Captain’s Report: March

Prize giving night

Thank you to everyone who attended and congratulations to all the winners; especially Don Johnson , Gary Knight and Terry Rymer who won more than a few.

It was good to see Roy Durman and Paul Beeson picking up the Bill Oliver trophy.

Roy also picked up a little prize for his support and work with the competitions.

A big thank you to the compare Mr Tiger Burns for keeping us entertained and laughing all night.

Thanks also goes to Brian Sindon and Terry Rymer for sorting out the night.

Ryder Cup

Ten Chingford boys played ten from the Royal Epping at St Mellion in Cornwall.

The first day Friday practice day we played a swindle on the Kernow Resort Course we won the day 4-1.

Saturday Ryder Cup featured five pairs on the Kernow Course.  It was very windy with rain on and off all day.  One of their boys was too tired to play the first day, which put a downer on it a bit, nevertheless
we came out on top by 3 and a half to 1 and a half.

Sunday there were ten singles on the Nicklaus Signature Course (what a beautiful course) .

The weather was much the same cold and windy with some rain .

We drew the day with 5 points each which gave Chingford the win 8 and a half to 6 and a half .

Well done to all those who played.  The whole weekend was a great success: the hotel, the food and the Epping boys were great and good fun.

Thanks to Gary and Kev for organizing the event.

Now that April is here…

We got the competitions starting in April .

13th April is the Norman Plum and four of our boys are playing in the public courses.

20th April is the Lesley Woods for which we need caddies and support.

Team colours are red.  Good luck to all those who play.

Don’t forget April brings with it subs so I think Mr Sinden will be knocking at your door.

Regards Peter.
