Double Captains’ Drive-In

A big thanks to everyone who attended the drive in today. The sausage and mash went down really well, especially as the club paid for it!

We had some amazing generosity shown to the Captain’s charity by all the winners of the drive-in yardage guess. A huge thank you to Denise Durman, first prize winner, John Hall and Alan Charlton, joint second and third winners. Every penny of their winnings donated to our charity Dreamflight.

And thanks to everyone else who also made a donation to the cause. We did not have a big number attending today but an incredible £146.50 was raised. A fantastic start to the year.

For those of you who weren’t there, our charity is Dreamflight, a UK charity that takes children with a serious illness or disability on their holiday of a lifetime to Disneyworld Orlando. The experience can be life changing and gives young people an opportunity to do something that medicine can’t: discover independence, confidence and a new outlook.

Dreamflight is the only charity that takes deserving children from across the UK to Orlando as a peer group with no parents. Instead, the children are accompanied by a huge volunteer group of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other helpers who look after the children for 10 days. Dreamflight also supports the children after the holiday, helping the children reach their potential by providing tailored support that isn’t available elsewhere.

Have a look at the video for a glimpse.
