Wow, I cannot believe it is January 2017 already, as it only seems to me that last week I was trying to “Drive In” as the new captain from the sand brick that Richard Charsley had built for me and enabling a 26 metre drive!
CHANGES AT THE TOP
Peter Lawrence has stepped down from the Committee after 3 years diligent service and I am sure all the members will agree that Peter was a good Captain and committee member. Thanks very much Peter.
Our immediate past Captain Paul Lovney has moved on to the “House and Bar” committee and will bring a lot of fresh ideas to the role
Thank you to all the past and current Committee members and I look forward to working with you over this coming season.
GOLF
Captain and Vice have had a three match winning streak and remain unbeaten in 2017 after a shaky start of losing our first two matches.
This year we entered 3 teams into the Gordon Forester but unfortunately have already had 2 teams knocked out. However myself, vice- captain, Paul Wilson and Jimmy Hobley are still flying the flag and we have to play Basildon in the next round in February.

DATES
Just like last year’s Captain and Vice, Richard and I are pretty organised so here are some dates to place in your diary. If I give them to you this early in the season and you can’t make it then you definitely don’t like me.
New Year’s Party is Saturday January 28th, 8 till late, tickets all sold out!!
Friday March 3rd is our presentation night, always a popular night but please try and make the effort for the winners. It’s always nice to pick up a trophy in front of a full house.
Captains Home Day ( Sunday June 25th), and this year’s Dinner and Dance is again being hosted by Theydon Bois GC ( October 7th). Captain’s Away Day to be confirmed
