CGC Mudlarks Triumph

Dear All,

Just a quick note to let you know that your fellow CGC members completed their 7k Nuclear Mud Run today in style.

I would like to personally thank Steve Durman, Steve Bundy, Michael Johnson, Jon Margrave, Mark Arkell and two close friends of Mark and Michael (Chris and Luke) for their efforts these past few weeks in preparation for today.

A special thank you has to go to Mark Arkell who as our team Captain and event organiser was absolutely awesome today in his leadership and determination to make sure we ALL succeeded.  I’ve been a part of some special teams in my time but I would not have wanted to miss this one for the world.

I also very proud of the support we received today from fellow members, friends, guests and family, far too many to mention individually but you know who you are.  Thank you so much, the cheering and abuse in my case made all the difference.
An unbelievable amount of money was raised for which I can’t thank you enough.  Thank you once again to each and everyone of you for competing, donating, and supporting.

Some pictures have been posted on the CGC website by Michael when he gets a chance and it has even been suggested that this could become a yearly event for the Captains charity, so start training as I couldn’t have done it without my strict training regime and diet face with stuck-out tongue and winking eye.

Regards,

Your very knackered Captain Lovers and Team Mud Smiling face with open mouth.

And here’s the video:

Statement to the organisers:

We (Paul Lovney, Steve Durman, Mark Arkell, Michael Johnson, Luke Hobbins, Chris Thorne, Steve Bundy and Jonathan Margrave) are mostly members of Chingford Golf Club and the Club Captain Paul Lovney has chosen SANDS to be his charity for 2016.

This charity is close to our hearts as Paul’s nephews, Casey and Ronnie Jackson were born at 24 weeks.

The SANDS charity supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth.  They are always researching and working towards finding out why this happens to expectant mothers and fathers.

So a further 7 of us have decided to join Paul and sign up for a Nuclear Mud Race in Brentwood on Sunday May 15th at 11am. The event consists of a 6k run, 35 obstacles, all through the mud!
For the pain – during and before – on our mud journey, we would be grateful if you could donate to Paul’s chosen charity, SANDS – it really is a fantastic cause and we all would greatly appreciate any donations you can make.
